Little Footprints Foundation
Unique Insurance is a leading Illinois-based provider of automobile insurance products and services. With 20 years of experience in the industry, Unique Insurance offers competitive rates, generous compensation packages, 24/7 roadside assistance, and user-friendly information technology. The company stays involved in the community by supporting local charities, including the Little Footprints Foundation (LFF).
LFF is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 in Naperville, Illinois. The foundation provides financial, emotional, and social support to children ages 4-16 who have lost a parent through an automobile accident. The foundation gives birthday and holiday gifts, along with new clothing packages to boost the self-esteem of the affected child and help decrease the financial burden of the guardian. In addition, LFF aims to create loving community support to the children and promote mindful driving in the community to prevent more deaths from car accidents.
To support their charitable functions, LFF operates a chain of resale stores, which accept gently used contributions of furniture, jewelry, clothing, and more. Donations are tax deductible, and all proceeds go to helping children who have lost a parent in an auto accident.
Unique Insurance of Niles, Illinois, is a provider of commercial and personal auto insurance that services customers throughout Illinois and Indiana. In March 2015, the company announced the launch of its Unique Insurance Company Scholarship for DePaul University students.
Designed to benefit the university’s accounting and economics students, the scholarship includes $25,000 worth of funds for distribution among Richard H. Driehaus College of Business students each year. Eligible students include those residing in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and each award will consist of an amount ranging between $2,500 and $5,000. The scholarship will begin distribution in the 2015 fall trimester.
Unique Insurance president Matthew J. Dutkanych established the scholarship to encourage the academic work of local college students and advocate for DePaul University’s programs and student body. A graduate of DePaul from its master of business administration program, Dutkanych prioritizes recognizing and rewarding native Chicago students for their hard work and accomplishments.
Chicago-based Unique Insurance provides automobile insurance not only throughout Illinois but also across Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Tennessee. Founded in 1996, the company offers flexible payment plans, competitive rates, and generous compensation options, including 24-hour roadside assistance. Additionally, Unique Insurance supports a number of charities, with a focus on Fisher House Foundation.
For 25 years, Fisher House Foundation has maintained a network of homes at military installations and Veterans’ Affairs medical centers for families to stay for free while members of the military or veterans receive treatment. Across 24 states and countries and the District of Columbia, Fisher House has offered more than 5.5 million lodging days to hundreds of thousands of families—over 25,000 in 2014 alone.
The 65 current houses are comprised of 8 to 21 suites; with enough space for up to 42 family members, each house has private bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room, dining room, laundry, and kitchen areas are shared. Each house is gifted to the United States government and overseen by the Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs and military service secretaries, who ensure the houses are properly maintained and operated. Because the houses are run individually by the medical centers and installations, eligibility criteria varies by location, although it is always free.
