Unique Insurance is dedicated to offering fair, competitive rates on low-cost auto insurance. Many factors determine how much you pay for auto insurance, but one you may be surprised to hear about is your gender.

While it’s not a hard-and-fast rule that all insurance companies adhere to, males tend to have higher insurance rates than females. This boils down to statistics, not sexism or preference. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners found that men are more likely to get into auto accidents and 10 percent less likely to wear safety belts. To an insurer, these findings indicate it’s safer to insure women, as the company is less likely to have to pay a claim.

A 2011 study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that men are also more likely to speed. In a speeding survey, 36 percent of males were classified as “speeders,” while the figure was only 28 percent for women.

Offering commercial and personal auto insurance in several states, Unique Insurance realizes that having an accident is a stressful experience. Unique Insurance recommends several steps that can make resolving any incidents a smoother process:

1. Practice safety first – If anyone has life-threatening injuries, call 911 immediately. Also, seek medical help right away for anyone suffering apparent injuries. If the vehicles are moveable, move them off the driving lanes and into the shoulder of the road.

2. Call police – A police investigation of the accident, documented by a report, is critical to establishing fault, a necessity in the claims process.

3. Gather information – Exchange contact information with the other driver, including their name, address, insurance company, license plate number, and year, make and model of the vehicle. Also try to exchange contact information with any witnesses. Their testimony will be key in the fault determination investigation. If possible, take photos of the damage to both vehicles.

4. Call your insurance company’s claim representative.

Unique Insurance, located in Niles, Illinois, offers customers automobile insurance services and products. But Unique is also a generous supporter of local nonprofits. Recently, Unique Insurance made contributions to the Underscore Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois.

Established in 2011 by former students at Carleton College, the Underscore Theatre Company is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting original musical theatre. During its first two years of existence, it produced two full-length shows created by the four founding ensemble members, three one-act musicals written by numerous artists, and a stage reading by a Chicago playwright. Since it opened its doors, the theatre has produced 14 world-premiere musicals in Chicago.

Their most recent production, which ran in the fall of 2015, was “The Story of a Story (The Untold Story).” The world premiere of the musical comedy included music by Jody Shelton alongside book and lyrics from Emmy Award winning writer Peter Gwinn. The production is about a writer and artist who prevent the world from experiencing an invasion by a magical land of clichés. They travel through a magical dimension with the help of rebel clichés who want to become three-dimensional characters, and all of them seek to destroy the evil tyrant. “The Story of a Story (The Untold Story)” is Underscore’s first Joseph Jefferson Award nominated production. Underscore Theatre’s next production, “Haymarket: An Anarchist’s Songbook”, will make its world premiere in May 2016.

Tips for Saving Money on Auto Insurance

Accredited by the Better Business Bureau, Unique Insurance Company focuses on helping hard-to-place clients secure affordable auto insurance. Unique Insurance Company offers low costs combined with a high level of customer service that maximizes the value of the insurance product.

When shopping for a good value on car insurance, an automobile owner must consider both the cost of the insurance and the value of potential payouts. A good first step is to inquire into any potential discounts, such as those available for safe drivers or drivers with low average mileage. In general, the less risk a driver presents to the insurer, the more likely he or she is to qualify for a lower rate.

Drivers can also save money by increasing the deductible on a policy. This means paying more in the event of an accident, but can help drivers obtain lower premiums. Owners of older cars may also be able to reduce costs by decreasing or removing comprehensive coverage, which pays out on non-accident damage.

On the other hand, individuals with car loans may be safest buying additional coverage that would pay off a loan in the event of a total loss. The interaction between premium and payout can be complicated, so it is generally best for policy shoppers to discuss options with insurers and agents to determine appropriate choices.

Unique Insurance Creates Scholarship for DePaul University Students

About Fisher House Foundation Houses

Chicago-based Unique Insurance provides automobile insurance not only throughout Illinois but also across Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Tennessee. Founded in 1996, the company offers flexible payment plans, competitive rates, and generous compensation options, including 24-hour roadside assistance. Additionally, Unique Insurance supports a number of charities, with a focus on Fisher House Foundation.

For 25 years, Fisher House Foundation has maintained a network of homes at military installations and Veterans’ Affairs medical centers for families to stay for free while members of the military or veterans receive treatment. Across 24 states and countries and the District of Columbia, Fisher House has offered more than 5.5 million lodging days to hundreds of thousands of families—over 25,000 in 2014 alone.

The 65 current houses are comprised of 8 to 21 suites; with enough space for up to 42 family members, each house has private bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room, dining room, laundry, and kitchen areas are shared. Each house is gifted to the United States government and overseen by the Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs and military service secretaries, who ensure the houses are properly maintained and operated. Because the houses are run individually by the medical centers and installations, eligibility criteria varies by location, although it is always free.

Online Claims Filing Can Alleviate Stress after Accidents

Founded in 1996, Unique Insurance offers auto insurance products in several states. Unique Insurance makes the claims process easier for customers by offering online claims filing via its website. Industry experts note that filing a claim online can help streamline a key process after the stress of an automobile accident.

Before filing an accident claim, policyholders should have relevant information readily available. This includes policy numbers, accident details, vehicle details, and witness and police report information. When completing an online claim, individuals should take care to provide all the required information and add as much detail as possible.

In certain scenarios, such as serious accidents involving injuries or auto fires, phoning the company to file the claim may be the best course of action. Policyholders can always call their insurers if they have questions while filing online or to follow up on a filed claim.
